Morning Ladies and Gents!

Just a quickie before the weekend:

Two new shows will be opening at Bermuda Society of Arts (BSoA) tonight from 5pm until 7pm.  The first is Through a Child’s Eye by Tricia Walters in Studio B. This will feature watercolour illustrations and handmade toys so parents are invited to bring their children to come and enjoy it with them.  The show ends on August 15th. In the Edinburgh Gallery, BSoA will be showing Emerging Artists 2012, an annual exhibit from their Bursary Award entrants. For more details, see their website at www.bsoa.bm.

Morning Peeps!

Well, we seem to have made it through a good chunk of the week without anyone being struck by lightning, which is always good!  Let’s hope any more crazy weather thinking about coming our way gets it over with before next week – soggy Cup Matches are just not so much fun (although they are still fun, just not so much as sunny Cup Matches)!  Here is the latest roundup of things to do in Bermuda:

As most of you will be aware by now, Mary Prince, the Bermudian slave whose autobiography galvanised the anti-slavery movement and was the first account of the life of a black woman to be published in the U.K., is being honoured as the 2012 Bermuda National Hero.  In recognition of this, Bermuda National Library presents Why Mary Prince Matters, a discussion of her life and story led by Dr. Kim Dismont Robinson. This will be from 6pm until 8pm tonight.  For more information, or to RSVP, contact 295-2905 or library@gov.bm – here’s the flyer!

Morning Kids!

I am completely amazed at the number of people who I see going for lunchtime runs in this heat – how do you do it without collapsing?!  Do you stop for ice-cream along the way?  And when did they stop calling it jogging?  Anyway, enough of my random thoughts – here are the latest Bermuda events and activities to keep you all out of trouble:

Forks Over Knives is the next film showing in Bermuda National Library’s Get REEL Wednesday Documentary Film Series. This will be screened this afternoon at 4pm in the meeting room – here’s the flyer!
