Bermuda National Library invite you to join them for their 4th Annual Pre-Valentine’s Ladies’ Night: Exploring Self-Love through Mind, Body & Spirit on Thursday, February 11th.

Starting at 6pm, this event will feature Dr. Nekia Walker (RG Island Life Columnist), Laura Martin-Stout (Cloud9ine Bermuda), Melissa Looby (Life Coach, Metamorphosis BDA), a Cooking Demo with Brendan from New Catering Concepts, and a Sensual Movement Demonstration with Dy-Ann Simmons.

Time to grab your dance shoes as Bermuda Latin Vibes is proud to host the romance-centric salsa social, Love Is In The Air: A Valentine Salsa Sunset Sunday on Sunday, February 14th.

From 4pm until 8pm, you can enjoy an early evening of Latin music and dance in the atrium just off the main lobby of the fabulous Elbow Beach Hotel, Bermuda’s Salsa spot that has become a dancer’s favourite all over again.  Early birds will enjoy a quick dance class and then the Latin music plays non-stop.  Dress is smart casual.

0217 Skill Generalization

The first in a series of workshops for 2016, Tomorrow’s Voices will host a Training Institute Workshop entitled, Skill Generalization – What Does That Really Mean? on Wednesday, February 17th,

Running from 6pm until 8pm at Tomorrow’s Voices on King Street, the workshop will provide concrete strategies and tactics to help ensure that the skills we teach children produce generalized outcomes.

​Highlighting how children may struggle in transferring and continuing communication skills across all environments, people and scenarios both accurately and fluently, which is the hallmark of true mastery of a skill.
These include familiar scenarios such as a child behaves one way with one parent, but a different way with another; a child uses their language with adults but not peers; and a child’s alphabet seems strong at school but not at home.

Admission is $25 and attendees will be provided with a Professional Development Certificate upon completion of the workshop. All proceeds benefit the Tomorrow’s Voices Autism Centre and the families it supports.

Channel your inner Robin Hood/Katniss Everdeen at Archery Tuesdays at WindReach in Warwick.

The class will run from 6.15pm until 8pm each week and will include instruction on safety and equipment.  Both Recurve and Compound Bows can be used.

People of all ages and abilities are welcome but younger shooters under 9 years old should be accompanied by an adult.

The cost is $15 per night.

Hear from one of Bermuda’s top athletes as the Bermuda Paralympic Association invite you to Jessica’s Bronze and Gold Presentation on Friday, February 19th.

Starting at 6.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI, this will be a presentation by Bermuda’s wheelchair track athlete Jessica Lewis and her Coach Ken Thom. Friday 19th February, 6:30pm at BUEI Tradewinds Auditorium.

From 7pm at Red Steakhouse and Bar, this fundraising dinner will allowe you the opportunity to dine with ParaPanam Games Gold medal winner and IPC Athletic World Championship Bronze medal winner, Jessica Lewis and her Coach Ken Thom.

The Bermuda Society for the Blind are hosting a White Elephant Sale on Saturday and Sunday, February 20th and 21st.

From 9am until 4pm at Beacon House on each of the days, you can shop from a variety of men’s clothing, including jeans and shirts (dress, casual and polo), women’s clothing including jeans, tops, slacks, colourful scrubs, dress and pants suits, and children/teens, including jeans, tee shirts and dress shirts, and grey uniform pants.  Sizes range from small to 3X.  In addition, a variety of miscellaneous items will also be on sale, including handbags, jewellery, suitcases, duffle bags and computer bags, Tupperware, glassware and so much more.

Proceeds will assist BSFB to continue the ongoing programmes.

Bermuda Docs

The February edition of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series will be on Sunday, February 21st in the usual location of the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI.

45 Years will be showing at 3pm.  This richly intimate and intelligent drama won the Best British Feature award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

This will be followed by Mavis! at 5.15pm.  This is a documentary on gospel/soul music legend and civil rights icon Mavis Staples and her family group, the Staple Singers.

The Midland Heights SDA Church Health Ministries invites you to a dynamic 8 week Healthy Living series entitled Creation Health, starting on Sunday, February 21st.

If you’re looking for a positive healthy start for the 1st quarter of 2016, this series is for you.  From 4.15pm until 5.30pm each Sunday until April 10th, this series will be presented by Mellonie Furbert RD, Public Health Nutritionist.

This event is free and participants will be signing up for 8 weeks.

If you are interested in improving your health and well being, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing your chances of developing diabetes and other chronic diseases in the future, then you’ll be interested in the Health and Nutrition Seminar on Wednesday, February 24th.

This seminar is being held at The Sunshine League PLACE (Personal Learning Assistance Centre) at 27 King Street from 5.30pm until 6.30pm.  The presenter will be Sara McKittrick, Diabetes Educator (Bermuda Diabetes Association) and Registered Dietitian.

Good nutrition in combination with regular physical activity helps to promote overall health and wellness.  During this session, you will learn how making smarter food choices and being more active can help you to protect yourself from potential health problems in the future.

The cost is $10 for anyone under 18 and $20 for anyone over.

0224 Ecology of the Sargasso Sea

The Bermuda Zoological Society invites you to join them for The Ecology of the Sargasso Sea, the second installment of their lecture series on Wednesday, February 24th.

The lecture will begin at 7pm in the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo Education Classroom. and will have Dr. Robbie Smith, Curator of the Bermuda Natural History Museum and BAMZ, discuss the diversity of life in the Sargassum community, its role in the ocean ecosystem and the importance to many marine fishes, sea turtles and seabirds. The effects of climate change and marine pollution on the Sargassum community and the Sargasso Sea will also be highlighted.

Entry to the lecture is free and open to the public, but a donation of $5 is gratefully accepted.  Click here to register to attend.

The Berkeley Institute Dance Programme presents its 5th Dance Concert, Bring the Noize, on Friday and Saturday, February 26th and 27th.

From 7pm each evening in the Berkeley Institute Cafetorium, you will enjoy various dance styles, GCSE pieces and spectacular student choreography.

0304 IWC Art Exhibition

Raising funds for two local charities, the International Women’s Club of Bermuda (IWC) presents the opening night of their Annual Art Exhibition on Friday, March 4th.

Each year the members of IWC create and donate one-of-a-kind works of art and photographs to be sold at their annual Art Exhibition. All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to local charities SCARS and WindReach.

The opening Gala will take place from 5.30pm until 7.30pm at The Gallery in the Chubb Building on Woodbourne Avenue.

The exhibit runs until March 18th and The Gallery is open from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, for viewing and purchases.  Admission is free.

U.S. Consul General Mary Ellen Koenig and Bishop Nicholas Dill invite you to the free public concert Harvard in Hamilton for the Hungry X on Thursday, March 17th.

From 12.15pm until 1.15pm at the Anglican Cathedral on Church Street, the concert will feature the musical talents of The Harvard Krokodiloes, the Radcliffe Pitches, the Harvard Din and Tonics, and Bermuda’s own En Harmony.

Voluntary donations will be gratefully accepted by the Bermuda Eliza DoLittle Society to help those who are hungry.

0319 National Championships

Watch the best local elite and amateur boxers compete at the Bermuda Boxing Federation’s 2nd Annual Boxing Championships on Saturday, March 19th.

From 5pm at CedarBridge Academy, fighters will square off for the opportunity to represent as part of Bermuda’s national boxing team.  This is a family-friendly event.

Tickets are $45 for limited ringside seats, $30 for general admission, 420 for middle or senior school age youth, and one child under 12 will be free with adult entrance.  Tickets will be on sale exclusively from MenCo., www.BDAtix.bm and from BBF member gyms from February 19th.

BUEI invite you to join them for their biggest fundraiser and best party of the year at their Annual Underwater Extravaganza on Saturday, April 23rd.

The evening will begin at 7pm and will include underwater surprises, cocktails, a sit down dinner with drinks at the Harbourfront, a spectacular silent auction and dancing to The Big Chill.

Tickets are $275 each or $3000 for a table of 10 and all proceeds raised go towards BUEI’s 2016 Education Campaign.

Take off clean and return coloured as Swan’s Running Club host the first ever Color Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 16th.

Starting at 6pm, this promises to be a fun family-friendly event where you will start and finish at the Police Recreation Club in Prospect.  Since this is a fun event, there will be no chip timing.

The registration cost is $30 until March 31st, $35 thereafter.
