Summer, 1946. The Cousteau family, Jacques, his wife Simone and their two children Philippe and Jean-Michel, live in their beautiful house by the Mediterranean Sea. By day they dive, by night they watch the stars. It’s paradise on earth. But Jacques is never content. He hungers for the adventure of the undersea world, and believes in the virtues of progress. With his invention, the aqualung, his recently acquired vessel, the Calypso, and a crew of free-spirited adventurers led by his wife, Simone, Jacques is ready to cross the world’s oceans. Ten years later, back from the boarding school, Philippe finds his father greatly altered as an international celebrity. Jacques cannot see it yet, but Philippe already understands that progress and pollution have begun to lay waste to the submarine world. Yet father and son’s voyage to Antarctica may be their greatest adventure yet.  This PG-13 rated film has a running time of 123 minutes.

A group of Christians and community helpers have put aside all differences to help raise money for our government primary and middle schools at their first annual No Pulse, Just God: Benefit Concert on Saturday, March 17th.

Blaming one another for the things we can change is useless and only divides us. Right now, our schools don’t have funding to fix classrooms, pass health regulations, fix facilities, fund workshops, take children on field trips, or have money to get supplies to help with day-to-day lessons. The title No Pulse, Just God comes from the idea that when we do things for the sole purpose to do God’s will, we are no longer just a human with a pulse breathing the air he gives to us; we are one with God.

From 6.30pm at First Church of God on North Shore, performers will include church members from.different denominations throughout the island including some pastors as well as people in the community from throughout the island as well as special guests.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, free for under 5s, and are available from the main office at the church.

For more information, contact 703-2771 or nopulsejustgod@gmail.com.

Think you’re in pretty decent shape?  Individuals and teams of 2 to 5 are invited to prove it by signing up for one or more events in the Bermuda Triple Challenge from Friday, March 16th until Sunday, March 18th.

New for this year are obstacles, course modification and Wild Cards.  This three-day weekend charity obstacle course series offers participants an action-packed excursion showcasing three of Bermuda’s beautiful, historical and culturally significant locations. Each unique event offers different physical challenges; each is between 3 and 10K long with many varied obstacles suitable for all levels of fitness, challenging both strength and stamina.

The Argus Urban Foot Race is the first of the weekend’s three events, held in The Town of St George’s on Friday evening. The first wave begins at 7pm as participants navigate some of Bermuda’s, oldest streets, while tackling obstacles and CrossFit inspired workouts along the way. The 3K urban challenge requires both strength and endurance as participants tackle 25 obstacles throughout the urban assault course.  After the event, stick around and enjoy the party atmosphere in the historic town. DJ Dan Ho livens up the atmosphere in a community block party.

The Sun Life Island Challenge on Saturday, March 17th delivers the natural beauty that Bermuda is so well known for: picturesque limestone bluffs, spectacular coves, natural trails, and some of the most famous pink sand beaches in the world, complemented by various shades of light and deep aqua blue water. Welcome to paradise!   The Island Challenge is a picturesque 5K or 10K test, which features some of Bermuda’s best pink sand beaches, coastal bluffs and nature trails. Adding to the uniqueness of this event, a visit to the Bermuda Regiment’s Assault Course at Warwick Camp, perched atop the sand dunes completes the course.  Those completing 2 laps will start at 8.40am, while those completing one lap start at 9:30am.  Afterwards, there will be a BBQ for the participants, so they can recount their experiences to others and compare their favourite obstacles of the day.

The Chubb Royal Challenge on Sunday, March 18th is a 5K obstacle course within the confines of the historic Royal British Navy outpost and safe harbour. Now a tourism hot spot, home to Bermuda’s National Museum, many local craftsmen, shops and restaurants, Dockyard will inspire participants as they explore the old base lands in a high energy, action packed circuit around the old stone buildings, wharves and fortifications. You’ll step back in time to the era of the British Empire, when Britannia ruled the waves.  Beginning at 9.45am, participants will run, swim (optional) and climb their way to gratification for completing this challenge. There will be a Buzz and Butterfield & Vallis participant appreciation brunch immediately afterwards.

The registration fee starts from $80 depending on; how many are entering, how many challenges you are signing up for, and whether you are an adult, corporate or junior team.  All of the donations, pledges and fundraising support raised by the participants, as well as a portion of the registration fees, are given to the six local registered charities assisting with marshalling the events.
