It’s starting to get chilly now, time to unpack those sweaters and start prepping for the holiday season! Here are all the latest events that have been added to the Bermuda Calendar since last week. Join The Sugar Shack Cake & Bake Shop for Womb Connection: The Sweetest You on Thursday, October 25th.

Starting at 5:30pm, this event comes just in time for All Hallows Eve and Dia del Muerte. It offers another great opportunity to meet, network and learn from your fellow female entrepreneurs and business leaders. Featuring a host of bakers and sweet makers, with a life coach or two to put the icing on the cake.

The cost of this event is $20 which includes nibbles and refreshments. There will also be $5 raffles for sale.

Come celebrate Halloween with a Haunted History Tour in Ye Olde Ghost Town, offered daily from Sunday, October 28th until Tuesday, October 30th.

You can enjoy a scary good time at the Halloween Brunch at Fourways on Sunday, October 28th.

From 11:30am to 2pm, they promise something for everyone at this special themed brunch. The restaurant will be decorated for the occasion, and their chefs have concocted some deliciously scary dishes, Spooktacular desserts and frightful displays.

The cost is $49.75 for adults and $30 for children under 10 years, plus gratuities.

The Women’s A.C.T Group, featuring special guest panelists, will host the,
Domestic Violence Awareness Forum on Monday, October 29th.

From 7pm until 8:30pm at Warwick Seventh-Day Adventist Church, this event is being held in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and will see a community panel discussion addressing 6 key points: 1. Signs of Domestic Violence; 2. Need for an Emergency Shelter for Battered Women; 3. Medical Support; 4. Law and Legal Procedures; 5. Trauma and Counseling Services; 6. Impact on Children and Family.

The Roman Catholic Church’s Peace and Social Justice Ministry is hosting an Anti-Racism Conference on Friday, November 2nd.

Starting at 6pm within the auditorium at Mount Saint Agnes, this event will feature two international speakers who are coming to Bermuda to discuss the topic of racism and racial justice from a spiritual perspective.

The first speaker is Dr. Edwin Olson – author of “And God Created Wholeness…”.  Dr. Olson is no stranger to Bermuda. He worked as a consultant at The Bermuda College between 1995-1997 on the Diversity Training Initiative.  Dr.  Olson is a collegiate professor at Maryland University.  His talk on the night of the event is entitled: Dismantling Racism by Practicing Wholeness.

The second speaker is Catholic Priest and university professor, Fr. Bryan Massingale, STD.  Fr. Massingale is a senior professor of Theological and Social Ethics at Fordham University in New York City and a sought after speaker, both national and international, on the topic of racism and Catholic Church Social Justice Teachings. He is the author of the book “Racial Justice and the Catholic Church”. His talk on the night is entitled: Racial Justice and the Challenge of Discipleship.

There will be a Q&A period at the end of each talk, and all are invited to come out and participate. Discuss the moral imperative on this subject, where we fall short and how we can do better, as individual, as church, and as community.

You are invited to join Marcus’ for a special event dedicated to the Havanna Biennial Art Exhibition, Havana Meets Bermuda: Behind the Wall on Friday, November 2nd.

The event starts at 7pm with Cuban cocktails and introductions, followed by a presentation led by Lisa Howie, the curator, who will speak about the Havana Biennial 2019 and how three local artists; Peter Lapsley, Jon Legere and Andrea Sundt will participate. From 8:30pm until 9:30pm you will enjoy a bespoke Cuban-style dinner and Latin music. If you have ever wanted to visit Havana, the Biennial is the perfect time to do so!

Movie Lounge is back so grab your sweetie, the kids, a blanket, a picnic and head down to Queen Elizabeth Park on Friday, November 16th.

From 5pm until 11pm, you can catch a double-header of your favourite flicks under the stars in a beautiful park setting.

The first screening is The Incredibles 2 starting at 5:30pm, immediately followed by Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom at 7:30pm.

Formerly known as Super Saturdays, Masterworks’ art activities are back with a twist for Young @ Art on Saturday, November 17th.

The gallery is inviting families to come out and be inspired by the Masters featured in the Masterworks Gallery. Learn their history, and their techniques, then it’s your turn to create your own piece of art.

The event starts at 9am, and is best for children between the ages of 5 and 12, but all are encouraged to come out. Child friendly snacks will be provided by Bermuda Cupcake Company. Salty Lime will be open for your pleasure as well!

Admission is free. Adults must attend with children.

She Did That: a documentary that takes an in-depth look at the journeys of celebrated black female entrepreneurs, will show at BUEI followed by a discussion and dinner at Harbourfront, on Saturday, November 18th.

The 71-minute film was completed in late June, 2018 and has received wide acclaim. “She Did That.” was featured at EssenceFest, selected for the Urban World Film Festival, highlighted by Chase Bank as part of the ‘Women on the Move Leadership Day’, and was even shown on Times Square. Filmmaker Renae Bluitt produced this project as an extension of her very successful blog, ‘In Her Shoes’, a platform for celebrating “some of the most driven, talented, inspiring and let’s not forget, flyest female entrepreneurs on the planet”. Now the film will be shown right here in Bermuda, promising an empowering and dynamic event.

At 4pm the event kicks off with a networking hour. The film will begin at 5pm, followed by a panel discussion featuring guest speakers; Renae Bluitt and three incredible Bermudian women, and moderated by organiser, Kristin White. Afterwards, you are invited to keep the conversation going by joining them for dinner at Harbourfront, where you can continue to mix and mingle.

Film tickets are $50, and guests receive a glass of wine, canapés and a goody bag. For group pricing, buy 5 tickets for only $40 each. The three-course dinner at Harbourfront Restaurant is $100.

Join in the festivities at City Hall for the Lighting of the Tree on Friday, November 23rd.

From 5:30pm until 7:30pm, the official Christmas tree of the City will be lit up with its thousands of bulbs! It’s an evening of entertainment with choirs, singers, dancers, jump rope troupes and more. The night coincides with the start of Friday late-night shopping and a certain bearded man from the north pole is due to make a quick appearance as well!

This event is presented in partnership with Tomorrow’s Voices.
