I guess we got a two for one special on these storms – fingers crossed that Jerry doesn’t cause anymore serious damage so we only have to pay the price of one! Anywho, here is your weekly update of all the latest events to the Bermuda Calendar since last week. As always, make sure you scroll all the way down to see the Quick Recap Section at the bottom of this post for a full listing of all upcoming events, including those previously covered in previous posts.

BUEI Films invites you to come out and experience the 4th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival in Bermuda on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; September 27th, 28th & 29th.

Only at BUEI can you see this festival in Bermuda, and not only do you get to watch 10 Oscar qualified short films, you also get to vote for which one will win the competition. How will you decide?

Showtime starts at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday, and 5:15pm on Sunday.  All 10 short films will be shown each night, for a runtime of 140min, including an interval.

Tickets are $12 for Adults; $7 for Students, and can be purchased from BUEI’s Oceans Gift Shop. Tickets are non-refundable within 24 hours of the event.

Harbourfront opens for dinner at 5pm on Friday & Sunday, and 6pm on Saturday. Ticket holders are entitled to 10% off dinner (food only) before or after the film. Reservations required. Please contact 295-4207 for reservations and be sure to mention the film. Cannot be combined with any other special offers.

September 18th, 2019 Bermuda Calendar Update

Happy Hump Day! 

Hope your hurricane prep is all done for the imminent arrival of Humberto. If not, then you’d better hurry – these storms are no joke! Please stay safe and look after each other, Bermuda.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Bermuda, registered charity #996, invites you to support them in their fundraising efforts by participating in the Zurich 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, September 22nd.

Races start at 8:15 am at Clearwater Beach, and all are welcome to join. There are a number of prizes to win, as well as raffle prizes that will be announced at the end of the race.

Prizes categories include: Overall: Male & Female Runners; Male & Female First, Second & Third; Juniors 1.5 mile, 7-11 – 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize Male & Female; Male and Female 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in the following age groups: 12-14, 15-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Walkers: Overall First, Second and Third (no distinction between male or female). Note: any walker caught running will be disqualified.

Registration is open online at RaceDayWorld.com/Race/BM/StDavid’s/Zurich5kRunWalk. All proceeds will go to Ovarian Cancer Awareness Bermuda. For those who don’t sign-up online, late registration will be at Clearwater Beach on Sunday at 7am.

Join artsmithsbda on their latest creative venture: PawPaw Bermuda, a Book Launch & Art Exhibition at Gallery 117 on Thursday, September 12th.

Pawpaw Bermuda is a cookbook/artbook that focuses on a beloved aspect of Bermudian culture. Pawpaws have ensured island survival, not only as a source of nourishment and healing, but also as a contributor to the island aesthetic as an inviting paradise.

The Opening Reception is from 5:30pm until 7:30pm on the Thursday, September 12th. The exhibition will remain on display at Gallery 117, until September 27th.

The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 5pm.

Summer is coming to a close and the time has come for back to school – but that’s no reason to be sad. There are lot of exciting events coming up on the Bermuda Calendar to carry us into the next season, and so without any further adieu, here is your weekly update with all of the latest events that have come in since last week. Hamilton Princess Hotel invites you to join them as the Summer begins to wind down for Marina Nights with Whiskys & Craft Beer on Fridays; September 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th.

From 5pm until 9pm, every Friday throughout September, they’re featuring Anchor Craft Beers and a great selection of whiskys. Anchor is America’s first and oldest craft brewery, producing outstanding beers. There will also be a Taco Station and live entertainment by The Big Chill.

There is no cover charge and the first 50 ladies will receive a free “Ladies Delight” cocktail.
