Morning Troops!

We’re lucky enough to still have blue skies for the most part so far this month.  It is getting very close to that inbetween time of year that makes it really difficult to choose what to wear in the morning though.  I’m already painfully slow in the mornings so anything that requires brain power before I’ve had my first caffeine of the day can be quite disastrous – good thing that there are lots of Bermuda events coming up to distract me:

Schools To Know invite you to their International Boarding Schools Fair  Featuring Schools That Offer Additional Academic Support on Wednesday, October 10th and Thursday, October 11th. Over thirty well-known and respected boarding schools are coming to the Fairmont Hamilton Princess to share their programme information with you. Between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on each evening, you can learn what these schools have to offer and representatives will give you details on their programmes, facilities and financial aid opportunities. Hi Kids!

Hurray for October, probably the best month of the year! Oktoberfest, Halloween and, most importantly, my birthday to look forward to – what’s not to like?! Here is some of what’s going on in Bermuda this month:

There are still a few days of the largest Oktoberfest celebration on the island at Swizzle Inn, Bailey’s Bay as they will be finishing up on Sunday, October 7th.  The Beer Tent with authentic Oktoberfest tables, benches and music is already set up and Swizzle Inn have exclusively imported Oktoberfest Draft Beer, direct from Munich, as well as bottles of Weisse, dark and pilsner beer from Munich, schnapps and German wines.  For soakage, Bavarian chef Edi Guntl has prepared a full Oktoberfest menu, including schnitzels, sausages, sauerbraten, dumplings, goulash, strudel and more authentic German delights.  Groups of 8 or more who book in advance will get Beer tent seating, special pricing and Oktoberfest party favours.  For bookings, contact Carolyn at 293-1854 or info@swizzleinn.com.

Morning Kids!

Lots of Bermuda events coming up so let’s just get right down to it!

Dancing is a great way to meet new people and get some exercise but if you’ve been a little nervous about signing up for a whole course, here’s a great opportunity to have a little taster.  Sabor Dance School are offering an evening of free introductory classes at the Berkeley Cultural Centre on Friday, September 28th. Salsa will be from 5.30pm until 6pm, followed by Bachata from 6.15pm until 6.45pm, Hustle & Ballroom from 7pm until 7.45pm and Tango from 8pm until 8.30pm.  A discounted registration fee will be offered to anyone who registers on the night for their classes that commence the week of October 1st. Happy Friday Kids!

Today’s edition is a bit of a monster.  As usual, once the weather starts to cool a little, more organised events start popping up.  Here’s what’s happening in Bermuda:

The Bermuda Rugby Football Union are raising funds and celebrating the end of summer at their BRFU Family Fun Day at Snorkel Park on Saturday, September 22nd. From 1pm until 7pm, they invite you to join them at the beach where there will be music by a DJ and a live steel pan band, drinks specials and food, and lots of family-friendly activities, such as team and individual games, volleyball, mixed touch rugby, a scavenger hunt for the kids and lots of prizes. Admission is $20 or free for kids under 12. To RSVP, contact devrae@brfu.bm.
