Poker Night November

Rosewood Tucker’s Point has partnered with Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art for a night of poker and fun on Thursday, November 21st. Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Night will begin at 6.30pm with a beginner’s tutorial.  You can then put your new skills into practice when the hands are dealt at 7.30pm and 9.30pm, with prizes to be won.  The Sul Verde menu will be available to players. The cost is $50 per player and all of the proceeds from the evening will go directly towards the Masterworks charity.  To reserve your spot, call 298-6914.

 

 

Bermuda Bodyworks

Do you want improved mobility, fewer back problems, fewer aches and pains, improved body awareness, a reduction in stress and a greater sense of well-being?  If the answer is no, then I am deeply jealous and want to have your zen life, but if the answer is yes, then you may be interested to know that Bermuda Bodyworks, Bermuda’s only authentic Pilates studio, is hosting an Open House on Saturday, November 23rd.  From 2pm until 4pm, their experienced team of instructors will be on-hand at their Berry Hill Road location to demonstrate the basic movement principles of Pilates, showcasing the many physical and mental benefits.  In addition, private one-on-one sessions will be given away free at the Open House and anyone who signs up on the day will receive a Special Introductory Package.   Gift Certificates are available so it could be the perfect opportunity to pick up a special gift for a loved one.  For more information, contact 232-5161 or jchristie@ibl.bm.

BHS eco Runway

The Bermuda High School for Girls are being very fashion-forward by hosting their 3rd annual eco Runway event on Saturday, November 23rd.  Inspired by Project Runway, this competition features avant garde and ready to wear deigns from ten student teams.  All garments are made from at least 50% recycled or found materials.  The runway show will start at 6pm in the Queen Elizabeth Hall at BHS.  Tickets are $10 for students, $25 for adults, with a limited number of front row seating tickets for $40.  Tickets are available online at www.bhs.bm.  For more information, contact 295-6153 or info@bhs.bm.

 

 

 

Dolphin Show

A fundraiser with a difference as Dolphin Quest and the National Museum of Bermuda present a High Flying Dolphin Fundraiser Show on Sunday, November 24th.  This will be from 1pm until 4pm, with the show starting at 2pm.  There will also be a bake sale and, if you arrive early, you can sign up for dolphin photos and dolphin feedings.  The cost of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with additional charges for photos and feeds.  All proceeds will benefit WindReach Bermuda’s Adaptive Sports Programme.  For more information, contact 234-4464.

 

 

Doris Payne

Due to popular demand, and a sell out of SEVEN previous screenings, Bermuda Docs will be hosting an 8th showing of The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne, a crowd-pleasing documentary about a glamorous and charismatic 82-year-old international jewel thief.  This will be shown at 3pm on Sunday, November 24th in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI.  More details on the film can be found at www.bermudadocs.com.  Tickets are $15 and available at Oceans Gift Shop or by phoning 294-0204.

 

BUEI Citizen Science

The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) is hosting Discovering Indonesia, the next in their Citizen Science Lecture Series on Monday, November 25th.  This promises to be an exciting evening with well-known author and adventurer, Andrew Stevenson, exploring the lands and waters of Indonesia.   Andrew’s amazing photos and videos will help transport you to some of the most spectacular underwater scenery in the world with a mind-boggling diversity of marine life which includes pristine corals, sharks, turtles, dolphins, giant pelagics, pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs and frog fish.   Andrew will also be on-hand after the presentation to sign copies of his most popular books and DVDs. Doors open at 6.30pm with Happy Hour prices on drinks at Harbourfront. The lecture itself will start at 7.30pm.  Ticket holders are entitled to 20% off dinner at Harbourfront either before the lecture from 6pm, or afterwards. Inclusion-Workshop

Tomorrow’s Voices, Bermuda’s Autism Early Intervention Centre are hosting the next workshop in their year-long Training Institute on Wednesday, November 27th.  My Child is Included: What Does This Really Mean? will be facilitated by Tomorrow’s Voices Senior Therapists, Emma Martin, BCBA, M.Ed and Natasha Pedro-Petty, M.A., from 6pm until 8pm in the Sunshine League Building at 27 King Street.   If you are interested in understanding more about about what inclusion means, prominent issues related to its implementation and how it can best be achieved, then this will be a very useful discussion and seminar for you. The cost is $25 and participants will receive professional Development Certificates for attending. Walk-ins are welcome, or you can RSVP to tomorrowsvoices@northrock.bm or 297-4342.

Tuckers Point Thanksgiving

Rosewood Tucker’s Point invite you to relax and leave the cooking to Chef Guido while you spend time with your nearest and dearest in The Point for a traditional family-style Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 28th.  Two sittings are available at 5.30pm and 7.30pm and the cost is $85 per adult or $42 for children, excluding grats and beverages.  The regular children’s menu will also be available.  For more information, or to make a reservation, contact 298-4070.  If you prefer to dine in the comfort of your own own (or if you want to pretend to your guests that you cooked it all yourself), The Point is also offering a special Take Away menu on Thanksgiving Day.  This will include pumpkin soup, roasted turkey with traditional sides and garnishes, along with three varieties of classic desserts. The cost is $75 per person. Orders should be placed to 298-4070 by noon on Monday, November 25th and may be picked up in Tucker’s Bar at 3.30pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Sandys 360

Sandys 360 invite you to come out to the next in their Fall Movie Night Series on Friday, November 29th.  This will be at the Sandys Secondary Middle School Assembly Hall with two family-friendly movies.  The first will be Monster House at 6pm, followed by Rise of the Guardians at 8pm.  Admission is $5 per person, per movie, $10 per person for dinner and one movie, or $20 per person for dinner and both movies.  For more information, contact info@sandys360.bm or call 234-6195.

 

Yogawoman

 The Bermuda Yoga Festival 2014 presents a screening of Yogawoman on Sunday, December 1st.  This award-winning documentary follows some of the women at the forefront of today’s yoga movement and is narrated by Annette Bening.  ​The screening will be at 3pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI. Tickets are $20 and available at Oceans Gift Shop or by phoning 294-0204.

 

 

 

 

Ensemble Singers

Marketplace Santa Parade

The usual array of floats, performers and free candy will all be on offer at the annual Marketplace Santa Parade in the City of Hamilton on Sunday, December 1st.  Make sure you don’t park along the parade route (outlined on the flyer) as the roads will close at 3pm while the parade will start at 5pm.

 

 

 

 

 

Wharton MBA

HH North Village Band

As part of the Historical Heartbeats Winter Lecture Series, the North Village Band Concert will be adding a little extra atmosphere to late-night shopping on Friday, December 13th.  From 5.30pm, they will be playing Christmas carols on the porch of the Bermuda Historical Society at Queen Elizabeth Park (formerly Par-la-Ville Park).  The band will be under the direction of Majors Barrett and Kenneth Dill.  This event is free to the public and some light refreshments will be served.  For more details, contact Dr. Kim Dismont Robinson on 292-1681 or see www.communityandculture.bm.

 

 

Tuckers Point Christmas Lunch

Rosewood Tucker’s Point’s Annual Christmas Day Celebration at the Point will take place, unsurprisingly, on Wednesday, December 25th.  The festivities will begin at noon with a cocktail reception on the Terrace, followed by a seated four-course luncheon at 1pm, specially prepared by Chef Brambilla.  The cost is $135 for adults and $65 for children, excluding grats and beverages. The Point will be serving the regular a la carte dinner menu in the evening.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling Stefania on 298-4076.

 

Christmas To Go

If you prefer to dine in the comfort of your own home, The Point is also offering a special Take Away menu on Christmas Day. This will include pumpkin soup, roasted turkey with traditional garnishes and a classic Yule log for dessert.. The cost is $75 per person. Orders should be placed to 298-4070 by noon on Friday, December 20th and may be picked up in Tucker’s Bar at 11.30am on Christmas Day.

 

 

LOriental Specials

Now for a few specials from L’Oriental.  Firstly, they are currently offering 20% off dinner for earlybirds who dine before 7pm, Monday to Thursday.  Crustacean fans can also get a Lobster Tail Dinner Special for $39.75 (excluding grats) for 3 courses.  This offer will also be running from Monday to Thursday before 7pm.  From Monday to Friday, they  are now offering Thai and Malaysian Street food as lunch specials and on Tuesdays from noon, L’Oriental are featuring an Asian & Sushi Lunch Buffet for $29.75 (excluding grats).  Limited a la carte items from the regular menu will also be available.  For reservations, call 296-4477.
