December 3rd, 2014: Bermuda Events Update

Hi Kids!

Just another little reminder for event organisers – we are now in the busiest time of year for the NTDIB calendar so please make sure you get all your events submitted to me at http://nothingtodoinbermuda.com/submit-your-event.html with as much notice as possible to allow the maximum number of people see what you have going on. The weekly deadline is by 6pm on Friday for inclusion on Wednesday’s post. Also, please don’t forget that the last post of the year will be on Wednesday, December 24th and the first of the New Year will be on Wednesday, January 7th, so please plan accordingly to make sure your event is promoted.

1203 Americas Cup

Well, we did it – the America’s Cup will be arriving in Bermuda today!  To celebrate this historic moment, there will be a day of celebrations.  The Cup will touch down at L.F. Wade at 2pm and will then travel in a Police-led motorcade from the airport to the Cabinet Office on Front Street. Along the route, the motorcade will drive by some local schools so that students can see the Cup as it passes by. Once at Cabinet Office, the Premier, The Hon. Michael Dunkley, JP MP, will host a special press conference to officially receive the America’s Cup.

Best of all, a special block party will be held on Front Street, which will be closed to traffic from 5.30pm. There will be a presentation ceremony at the Flagpole at 5.45pm, where the actual America’s Cup will be presented to Bermuda and accepted by the Premier, with the Bermuda Regiment Band and Gombeys. At 6.50pm there will be fire dancer performances and from 7.10pm, there will be live music by the local band Working Title. You can also expect a 3-cannon salute and a fireworks display before the event closes at 8pm.

1204 Social Media and Marketing Objectives

Operating a medium to large business is a little different than running a small business, as are some of the challenges in social media use. For this reason, SociaLEE Consulting is running a Social Media Marketing for Corporate Use series.

This seminar will look at how you can incorporate social media into your established marketing strategy, and create a social media marketing strategy in order to reach your audience.

The registration fee is $140 and can be purchased online at www.ptix.bm until December 3rd. No registrations will be taken at the door. BEDC and Bermuda Chamber of Commerce Members receive a 5% discount with a code.
