0919-jump2b-fit-open-recruitment-sessions-2

Kicking of it’s 2016-2017 season, the award-winning program Jump 2B Fit will have open recruitment sessions throughout the month, starting Monday, September 19th.
Practice for new jumpers will be from 5pm to 7.30pm, on Mondays and Thursdays, in the Whitney Institute Assembly Hall. There will also be a Parent/Guardian information Meeting at 6pm in the Gymnasium on Thursday, September 15th.
The curriculum introduces children to a structured jump rope program as the foundation to learn about nutrition, fitness, and health. Jumping or high-impact exercise is very effective for increasing bone density, especially during puberty. The physical activity not only builds strong bones, but also muscle, which can help prevent obesity and certain diseases as well as giving students great confidence, leadership skills, and self-esteem.
To join the program must be at least 7 years by the end of the year.
For more information, contact Sionna Barton (Program Director) sionna@bdaheart.bm, or Karon Glenn (Team Manager) jump2bfitbda@gmail.com.

Dolphins

In an effort to increase awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic on the environment, BUEI Talks presents: Plastic Tides on Tuesday, Sept 20th.
From 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium, Plastic Tides is hosting a screening of its award winning film The Canal.
The Canal documents Christian Shaw and Gordon Middleton’s journey down the Erie Canal in New York in November of 2014 via stand up paddle board. The two attempted to paddle from Ithaca, NY to Albany, 240 miles along the canal, during the polar vortex that sent temperatures below zero in every state in the US. They battle freezing rain, brutal cold, and hypothermia all to bring their message to the capital – to BAN plastic microbeads from the state.
The two established Plastic Tides in Bermuda and will kick off the evening with a slide-show of their 20 hour paddle around Bermuda in 2015. Proceeds from this showing will also go towards the SUP’r Kids Bermuda Program.
Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar and the full menu will be available from 6pm – please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. For dinner reservations call 295-4207.

The performer uses the fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral their body into and out of various positions. Aerial Silks may be used to fly through the air, striking poses while suspended.

0922-a-womb-networking-event
