Excited yet? Cup Match is right around the corner and the Bermuda Calendar is already packed with lots of fun things to do. Here are the latest events to be added to the Bermuda Calendar since last week – as always, be sure to check out the Quick Recap Section at the bottom of this post for a full listing of all upcoming events, including those previously added in previous posts.
Don’t miss the opportunity to hear new scientific findings from lionfish expert Dr. Corey Eddy, as BUEI Talks presents: Lionfish, Dusky Sharks, Hogmouth Fry…Oh My! on Thursday, July 27th.
Dr. Corey Eddy looks beyond the infamous and invasive lionfish to explore other species in our ocean.
The lecture starts 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium. Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar and the full menu will be available from 6pm – please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. Innovation Campus and Beach Club at Ariel Sands believe there is no better way to end the month of July than with drinks on the beach and invite you to what promises to be an unforgettable night as they host their Happy Hour & Bonfire @ Hub Culture on Friday, July 28th.
From 6pm until Midnight, you can mix and mingle with locals and visitors while listening to DJ Rico Don play your favourite songs. The Virtual Reality room will also be open, offering sightseeing in New York and tennis.

Bringing you the biggest anthems and the greatest party tunes all night long, get ready for Soca vs Reggae 2017: We Jammin’ Still on Friday, August 4th.
From 8pm until 2am at Tiger Bay in St. George’s, this year’s lineup is jam-packed with reggae and soca stars including Elephant Man, Problem Child, DJ Rusty G, Fadda Fox, DJ Stephen1, YGS and Willy Chin.
General tickets are $65, and there are a limited number of VIP tickets available for $150, which include front stage access, complimentary food/drink, limited reserved paid parking (call 336-9871 to reserve), and a separate entrance.

Unleash your creativity with Bermuda’s natural resources at the Annual Bermuda Sand Castle Competition on Saturday, September 2nd.
Sign in starts at 9.30am at the usual location of beautiful Horseshoe Bay. Sculpting begins at 10am and finishes at 4pm, followed by judging where three judges will pick first, second and third in each category and best overall winner. The categories are Family, Children (12 & under), Teenagers (13-19), or Open\Adult and there will be cash prizes.
Not sure where to start? Take advantage of the free workshops taught on the Saturday, Thursday and Friday nights leading up to the event, at 5pm. Taught by previous winners, they are designed to make sure you have all the tools tips and tricks you need to create something spectacular. True reggae lovers are invited to an all vinyl tribute dance for Mr. Kent Outerbridge, aka Fadda Dub, the founder of Dub City, at A Tribute to Father Dub on Sunday, September 3rd.
From 9pm until 3am under the Big Tent at National Sports Centre, this event is being hosted by Conscious J with musical selections by Magnum Force Int’l, Jones Town Int’l, Black Lion, Reality Sound, Lenky Boy Movement, Dub City Int’l, Blackstar, and Nuclear Weapon. There will also be a special guest appearance/performance by Jamaica’s own reggae legend, Luciano aka JahMessengeJah.
Tickets cost $45 at the gate, $35 for general admission, or $25 for Early Bird tickets (until the end of July), and are available from pTix.bm, Jamaican Grill, Fish N’ Tings or Dub City Variety. Partial proceeds will go towards the Bermuda Diabetes Association.
