Wednesday, also known as Hump Day, is the perfect day to kick back and relax and celebrate that the work week is officially halfway through, so be sure to check out Wine Wednesday at RED starting on Wednesday, August 2nd.

Every Wednesday throughout the month of August, the restaurant is pleased to offer 20% off every bottle of wine on their wine list as they believe that no matter what the question, wine is always the answer on #WineWednesday.

Red is open on Wednesdays from 11:30am until Midnight.

For more information, contact 292-7331.

Two new exhibits have opened at the Bermuda Society of Arts.

Showcasing in their Onions Gallery and Studio B is the Members Summer Show 2017 featuring works by BSoA member artists. The BSoA serves as one of the few art galleries open to all artists to exhibit their current works of various inspirations and media showcasing eclectic traditional styles. The best part of a members show is you never know what you are going to get and, based off of recent reviews, you are guaranteed to enjoy the experience.

Showing in the Edinburgh Gallery and Studio A is Plastics Gone Wild, featuring art works to raise awareness about plastic pollution in our ocean and the serious threat it poses to marine life. In conjunction with KBB and CHUBB, the BSoA is happy to bring back this important show that calls on local artists to create works using the materials polluting our shores. Works from their Plastics Gone Wild family workshop will also be on display.

Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays. These exhibitions will run until Tuesday, August 29th.

Admission is free, although donations are appreciated, and all are welcome.

For more information, contact 292-3824 or bsoa@ibl.bm, or visit www.BSoA.bm.

Game, set, match… with the conclusion of the recent world-famous tennis tournament in Wimbledon, the ball keeps rolling at some of the island’s most scenic tennis courts with the August Offers at new Fairmont Southampton Tennis Club by MTM.

Fairmont Southampton proudly boasts six hard-court, beach-front tennis courts, three of which are lit for play nightly, alongside a fully stocked on-site tennis shop.  Now, Bermuda is getting her very own spin on the tennis game as the island’s most successful active singles tennis player, Gavin Manders, and Davis Cup team member Jovan Whitter have partnered with the resort to take over the tennis concession with the newly formed Manders Tennis Management (MTM) company.

The new MTM team is offering a variety of opening specials to both tennis aficionados and their children.

Quick movers can take advantage during the launch period, as they offer a special Summer Membership, running until the end of August.  During that time, members can hit the ball as often as they like, with complimentary courts and night lights daily.  The new tennis management is currently also one of the only providers of a ball hitting machine on the island.  The cost is $49 per person and terms and conditions apply.  Pre-booking for courts and night lights is required, pending availability.

During the summer season, it’s also a match point for little ones aged 5 to 14 as Youth Summer Camp will run from July 3rd to September 1st.  This provides a social environment for organic individualized tennis development, with activities varying according to the age, level and stage in tennis development. Through fun games, creative drilling and improvement of fitness and kinetic performance, MTM builds the foundation needed to become a successful tennis player and athlete.  The cost is $250 for the week and drop-in daily costs $65 per day, per child.

When it is back to school time, the tennis fun continues with the After School Junior Academy from Monday, September 4th. This after-school programming offers the opportunity to train four times a week which is recommended to take your game to the next level. It further provides a sensible regular activity that keeps children focused on developing their tennis and fitness levels as well as sportsmanship values and social skills in their leisure time.  The cost is $900 for three days a week (including a complimentary Saturday class), or $600 for two days a week. In order to be enrolled for this program, a junior membership is mandatory and priced at $250 per year.

The opening hours for the Tennis Club are 8:30am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.

For more information, contact MTM at mtminfo.bermuda@gmail.com or visit www.fairmont.com.
