Schools are back in and its officially time for us to get back into our fall routines. To help you start planning ahead, here is your weekly update with all of the latest events that have been added to the Bermuda Calendar since last week. Restoration Fellowship will celebrate their 5th Pastoral Anniversary at Fairmont Southampton on Sunday, September 16th.

Services will be held in the Amphitheatre at 10:30am and 6:30pm, and you are invited to join this triple celebration of their 16th Church Anniversary, their Pastor’s 5th Pastoral Anniversary and the proclamation of the elevation of their Pastor, Dr. Roxanne Haynes to Bishop Designate.

Yoga For Beginners, a new 6-week course in the Iyengar method will start on Tuesday, September 18th.

Classes will be held at The Club at Elbow Beach, on Tuesdays from 8-9pm, Fridays from 7:45-8:45pm, and Saturdays 10:45-11:45am. The course is suitable for students of all ages and abilities.

The cost is $150 for the entire course.

Representatives from 60 leading boarding schools are eager to meet prospective students and their families at the annual International Schools Fair Bermuda on Wednesday, September 19th, and Thursday, September 20th.

This will take place in the Hamilton Princess Hotel’s Harbour View Ballroom on each of these days, from 4pm until 8pm, where traditional boarding schools from The United States, Canada, Switzerland and The United Kingdom will be available to chat and answer any questions.

The event is for students ages 8-18 and there is no cover charge, although registration is recommended.

Especially for children aged between 7 and 11 years old, The Club at Elbow Beach, Fritholme Gardens presents a 6-Week Kid’s Yoga Course, starting on Thursday, September 20th.

Starting weekly at 4pm, the classes will be challenging and fun, and will also include a period of quiet relaxation.

Cara Bowen is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Intermediate Junior 3 level. She has been practicing yoga for 17 years and has studied with the Iyengar family in India, the US, and the UK. In addition to teaching yoga, Cara holds a Bachelors Degree in Art and Art History and a Masters in Teaching, and has been teaching in US and UK schools since 1998.

The cost is $120 for 6 weeks. Class size is limited to 10 children so early registration is advised.

Balancing the Second Half of Life, an 8-week course designed to motivate, inspire and transform will start on Friday, September 21st.

The first session will be from 5:15pm until 7:15pm at The Yoga Centre on Victoria Street.

Using yoga philosophy and mindfulness training to help you move smoothly into this second phase of life, students will learn to still the mind and discern what is important; understand “Sankalpa” (intentionality) and “Swadharma” (right duty/work) at this stage in life and how to use the chakras to manifest what you want and need; learn to listen to their bodies and live in solidarity with the world and community; and explore the meaning of peace that passes all understanding.

Study/reading material provided for this course and connection with other students and in-class sharing and dialogue are intricate components to this course.

This course is spread out over a six month period and will avoid special holidays and events. Students meet two Fridays a month.

The cost is $200.

The Yoga Centre is hosting a celestial-inspired workshop series to help prepare for smoother transitions throughout the year, Yoga For All Seasons starting on Friday, September 21st.

Beginning at 7:30pm, the first workshop in this series welcomes the autumnal equinox when the sun moves into the sign of Libra. Join to attune yourself to the cosmic forces at play. This workshop is designed to inspire balance in every aspect of life, using hatha yoga, breath work, meditation and the wisdom of the zodiac, to help us embody the best qualities of this peace-loving sign.

The course is taught by a RYT (200 hours) Certified Yoga Teacher and Intermediate Student of Astrology. The course is open to yogis of all levels, including absolute beginners.

The cost is $25 for the single workshop, $120 for the first 6 workshops, or $200 for the whole 12-month course.

Presented by the The Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Bermuda, the 4th annual CPA Bermuda Women’s Leadership Conference will take place at the Hamilton Princess Hotel on Friday, September 21st.

Running all day, from 8:15pm until 5pm, this year’s conference features a Futurist Keynote Speaker presenting on technologies and the impact on professional lives. The format will include Panel discussions.

The cost is $400 for members, $450 for non-members, or $425 per person in groups of 5 or more. Registration can be done online at www.Ptix.bm.

The Women’s Day Team of St. Paul’s AME Church invite you to attend their Paint & Sip event on Saturday, September 22nd.

This will be held from 6pm until 8pm in the church’s Centennial Hall, where they promise an enjoyable, relaxing, fun and creative evening, with everything you need provided.

The cost is $40 per person, which includes supplies of a pre-drawn canvas, paint, paint brush, palette, apron, and water vessel. Small bites and mocktails will also be provided.

You are encouraged to secure your spot asap, as spaces are limited.

The Friends of the Bermuda National Library present a Book Reading & Discussion with Samuel Alexander on Thursday, September 27th.

This will be held from 6pm until 7:30pm at the Library.

Mr. Alexander is a local author who has just written “Grey” a book of poetry & photography. Mr. Alexander will be reading excerpts from his new book as well as talking about how this book came to be. The Bermuda Book Store will be at the event to take pre orders for “Grey”.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Society proudly presents Annie: The Musical, premiering at the Earl Cameron Theatre on Thursday, October 4th.

It’s the Great Depression and brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Her luck changes when she gets to spend a fairytale Christmas with famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Meanwhile, spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search for her true family…

With its Tony® award-winning music, including the unforgettable songs It’s The Hard-Knock Life, Easy Street and Tomorrow, this is a show not to be missed!

Showtime starts at 7pm at City Hall. The production will run from Thursday, October 4th to Sunday, October 7th from, and then from Tuesday, October 9th to Saturday, October 13th. There are three additional matinée performances, starting at 2pm on October 6th, 7th and the 13th.

Bermuda Red Cross and Life Thyme Crossfit present Bermy Throw Down, a team fitness competition sponsored by Rayclan Limited, on Friday, October 5th. **UPDATE: This event has been postponed until December 1st**

The competition starts at 6pm at Life Thyme Crossfit on Dundonald Street.

The cost is $200 per team. Teams must consist of four members, and must be co-ed with at least 1 member of the opposite sex on a team.

Registration deadline is September 24th.

Dig out your lederhosen and round up your friends for Oktoberfest 2018 in Dockyard at Frog & Onion from Thursday, October 4th until Saturday, October 6th.

Bermuda’s version of the world’s biggest fair will be in the historic Victualling Yard at the Royal Naval Dockyard.  On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Happy Hour will start from 6pm, while the band will start at 7pm.

Headlining each evening is one of the world’s most outstanding beer hall bands, Oompah Brass, who are, in the words of Chris Evans, BBC Radio 2 host, “The Legends in Lederhosen – they rock so good!” Additional entertainment will be courtesy of Wayne David “awl de vey” from Somerset.

Co-sponsors Dockyard Brewing Co. and Burrows & Lightbourn will be offering special Oktoberfest brews and the tent will be set up in the classic style of long trestle tables where you can enjoy traditional Oktoberfest dishes provided by Küchenchef Derek Myers.
