Happy Hump Day Bermuda!

Hamilton Princess are pleased to offer again this year, a chance for youngsters to have some fun while making someone else happy at their wonderful Teddy Bear Teaevery Saturday and Sunday leading up until Christmas.

From 3pm until 5pm at Crown & Anchor, you can treat your kids to a special afternoon tea and have them bring along a new teddy bear or stuffed animal that will be donated to the Salvation Army and the Family Centre to help those less fortunate. Santa will also be there with goody bags, and he can’t wait to hear what your little ones would like to find under the Christmas tree.

The cost for Teddy Bear Tea is $32 (plus gratuities), while the cost for Teddy Bear Tea with a Teddy donation is $22 (plus gratuities).

This event runs every weekend until December 23rd.

Prefer shopping in the West End? They are also offering a Drive Through Gift Certificate Pick Up service, open 7 days a week until Christmas Eve, from 8am-9pm. On the heels of the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation’s success with An Evening with Dr Julian Manley, the BEDC will host two seminars presenting foundations for thinking, planning and starting a new cooperative business at Cooperatives & Community Part 1 & 2 on Tuesday, December 4th and Wednesday December 5th.

From 6pm until 8:30pm on each of these days, the seminars will feature 1worker/1vote and LKS Team of six renowned cooperative ecosystem practitioners and developers from the US and Europe.

BIFF Film Series Presents: Colette on Wednesday, December 5th.

Starring Keira Knightley and Dominic West, the film is based on the life of the French author and literary icon Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. Rated R.

BSoA invites you to their Members Show Exhibition on December 6th – a one-time, winter, Thursday opening!

In the Onions Gallery, you can see the Members Winter Show, featuring works by seasoned and emerging artists with works in various mediums. The Edinburgh Gallery features, Saperlipopette By Nahed Eid, an exhibit of functional art and visual variation. In Studio A and Studio B, you can find work from Anne Kermode, A Mother’s Job, and Stefan Smith’s Blended…a collection of hand made paper and digital prints by Micrae Smith, featuring photography by Stefan Smith. Finally in Studio C you can find Jewellery by Cindy Mitchell Design. 

The opening reception is at 5pm on Friday, December 6th. Exhibition continues until Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

BSoA is a non-profit charity and as such admission to the gallery is free; however donations are always welcome. Opening hours at BSoA are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays.

Join P.A.L.S. for the 38th Annual Holiday Fair and Raffle Draw on Saturday, December 8th.

Starting at 10am at St. Paul’s Church, make your way over to shop the many stalls of plants, White & Gold Elephant stalls, and baked goods. This promises to be a fun family event filled with activities like; Bingo, Plinko, Lucky 100 and a Christmas Selfie Station. There will also be a raffle draw with prizes including books and brand new sneakers. A variety of outside vendors will be on hand selling lots of goodies.

The Hamilton Princess wants you in the front row as the Boat Parade Festivities brighten up Hamilton Harbour once again this year on Saturday, December 8th.

From 6pm until 8pm, you can bring everyone out to enjoy a glittering start to the holiday season. Come and see the hotel’s outdoor Christmas Market, with food, beverages and holiday treats for purchase in the courtyard.

The cost for seating at Marcus’ is $60 per person (plus gratuities). Minimum spend applies for balcony seating

Fat Tire Massive Mountain Bike Racing Series continues at the new MTB course at Lagoon Park on Sunday, December 9th.

The new course features technical passes, downhill slopes, multiple textures, a pump track, and varying gradients created for riders. Disclosure: a B-Line will also be offered for those average riders uncomfortable with the newly designed course.

The race series begins at 9am. Riders aged 12 and under will race a 15-minute course (11am start) while juniors will race a 30-minute course (10:15am start). Male & Female Novice will race for 30 minutes (10:15am start) and Male & Female Open Class will race for a period of 60 minutes (9am start).

Thanks to the support of Fat Tire Massive’s sponsors, children and young adults under the age of 19 race for free. For all other categories; the cost of participating is $25 per race or $150 per season.

Points Series winner will be the rider with the highest number of accumulated points from their 6 best races in the Fat Tire Massive series.

In collaboration with the Bermuda Historical Society, the next event in the Bermudian Heartbeats Lecture Series: A Christmas Concert in the Park will be held on Tuesday, December 11th.

Starting at 1pm at the porch of the Bermuda Historical Society in Queen Elizabeth Park, you can join for a festive lunch-hour with holiday treats while enjoying the sounds of the season, featuring W. Aaron Spencer II and more.

In collaboration with MAETOG Photography, the BNG is pleased to offer a free Family Holiday Photoshoot on Friday, December 14th.

From 4pm until 6pm in Queen Elizabeth Park, families are invited to come and have their professional photos taken for the holidays. This will be conducted on a first come, first serve basis.

The photo shoot is FREE, however advance registration is required. Drop-ins are not welcome at this event.

St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church presents, A Carpenter’s Story on Saturday, December 15th.

Starting at 7:30pm, you can enjoy this musical, written by Ventia A. Caesar-Smith, which tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ from Joseph’s perspective. The performance is under the distinguished patronage of Rev. Dr. Larry E. Dixon, presiding Elder of the West District Bermuda annual conference African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The show will follow a Mocktail for sponsors and patrons, hosted at the Parsonage from 6pm to 7pm.

The cost is $30 for general admission, $50 for patrons and $100 for sponsors who will appear in the playbill. Funds are to aid with the restoration of the Mother Church.

Festive occasions call for everything to be decorated in the spirit of the season, and that includes your baked goods. The Hamilton Princess’ pastry chef will show you how to do it right at the Kids Pastry Decorating Classes on Sundays; December 16th and December 23rd.

L’Alliance Francaise invites all its members and guests to a traditional Cocktail de Noel on Sunday, December 16th.

From 6.30pm to 10pm at a private residence in Paget, you can enjoy seasonal music by the French Children’s choir. Also included, a Christmas buffet with foie gras and Sauternes as well as drinks.

The BNG are hosting a lunch time presentation on story-telling entitled, Art & Value of Your Story on Monday, December 17th.

From noon until 2pm at their premises on the 2nd floor of City Hall, the gallery invites all community members to come and listen to participants of the “Art & Value of Your Story” programme share their stories. This event will be moderated by Miss Ruth Thomas and will feature story-tellers: Sylvie Elliot, Francis Furbert, Elaine Smith and Greg Smith.

The event is free to attend. A light lunch will be provided.

The Bermuda National Gallery are hosting Family Tea Time on Tuesday, December 18th.

Running from 3pm until 4pm, they invite parents, grandparents and family members with children to join them for Family Tea Time & Art in the Gallery. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The event is free for children and $10 for adults. Pre-registration is required as drop-ins are not welcome at this event.

The BNG Youth Arts Council invite you to a Family Movie Day & Biennial Artist Talk with Michael Walsh on Friday, December 21st.

Running from 2pm until 5pm at the gallery, there will be a screening of the film ‘Contact’, a 1997 movie about humanity’s first interaction with extraterrestrial life forms. The film will follow a presentation from Michael who will discuss how the film informed his Biennial artwork “Arriving at Nothing”.

The cost is $10 per person, which includes admission, crisps, drinks and snacks.

St Peter’s Historic Church (est 1612) will hold their traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Monday, December 24th.

From 9pm until 10pm, all are welcome to join for this special ceremony, with carols and Holy Eucharist.

At 11am on Tuesday, December 25th a Christmas Day Service will also be held with Holy Eucharist.

The 2019 award will be presented at the Inaugural Bermuda Principles Awards Gala on Friday, February 22nd, 2019.

Each year, The Bermuda Principles Award recognises a distinguished scientist for their contribution to the scientific community. The award is reserved for those whose body of work has led to a pivotal medical advancement, embodying the spirit in which The Bermuda Principles was created in Bermuda in 1996. They are delighted to announce that the 2019 Bermuda Principles Awardee is Professor Adrian Krainer. Professor Krainer is also the 2019 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences Laureate.

The event starts at 6pm at Fairmont Southampton.
