Centred around the theme “Women of Unstoppable Faith” Allen Temple AME church will host their Women’s Season 2019 Empowerment Series on Wednesdays October 16th & 30th, and Saturday, October 26th.

On Wednesday, October 16th, Sis Charmaine Tucker, President and CEO of Lombard Odier, will share her testimony and provides insight on her faith journey as a leading businesswoman in Bermuda.

On Saturday, October 26th, Rev. Dr. Joyce Hayward, Assistant Minister and First Lady of St. John AME Church share a message on Women With Unstoppable Faith.

On Wednesday, October 30th, Dr. Beverly Taylor, a lifelong public school educator of Heard Chapel AME Church, will share a message on Women With Unstoppable Faith.

Each session starts at 7:30pm.

Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club invites you to celebrate football season with them at 1609 Bar & Restaurant with Bourbon, Burgers & Brews offered daily throughout November.

Everyday from 11am until 10pm, the restaurant will be serving up the best of American beers, burgers and bourbon! This special menu is best enjoyed on game days, while watching NFL games on their big screens.

There is no cover charge.

1609 is open daily from 11am until 10pm. Bourbon, Burgers & Brews will continue daily until the end of November.

Swizzle Inn promises to host Bermuda’s most authentic Oktoberfest celebration, from Thursday to Sunday, October 3rd to13th. **UPDATE: Postponed to run from October 10th to 20th.** 

Every night from 5pm until 11pm, at their Bailey’s Bay location, you can join them under the Bavarian Beer Tent to enjoy a full Oktoberfest menu, complemented with Paulaner Oktoberfest beer direct from Munich.

There will be live entertainment with Mr. Oktoberfest, Bill Krauss, party games and loads of fun!

There is no cover charge, all menu items are individually priced. Reservations are recommended.

I guess we got a two for one special on these storms – fingers crossed that Jerry doesn’t cause anymore serious damage so we only have to pay the price of one! Anywho, here is your weekly update of all the latest events to the Bermuda Calendar since last week. BUEI Films invites you to come out and experience the 4th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival in Bermuda on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; September 27th, 28th & 29th.

Only at BUEI can you see this festival in Bermuda, and not only do you get to watch 10 Oscar qualified short films, you also get to vote for which one will win the competition. How will you decide?

Showtime starts at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday, and 5:15pm on Sunday.  All 10 short films will be shown each night, for a runtime of 140min, including an interval.

Tickets are $12 for Adults; $7 for Students, and can be purchased from BUEI’s Oceans Gift Shop. Tickets are non-refundable within 24 hours of the event.

Harbourfront opens for dinner at 5pm on Friday & Sunday, and 6pm on Saturday. Ticket holders are entitled to 10% off dinner (food only) before or after the film. Reservations required. Please contact 295-4207 for reservations and be sure to mention the film. Cannot be combined with any other special offers.

September 18th, 2019 Bermuda Calendar Update

Hope your hurricane prep is all done for the imminent arrival of Humberto. If not, then you’d better hurry – these storms are no joke! Please stay safe and look after each other, Bermuda.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Bermuda, registered charity #996, invites you to support them in their fundraising efforts by participating in the Zurich 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, September 22nd.

Races start at 8:15 am at Clearwater Beach, and all are welcome to join. There are a number of prizes to win, as well as raffle prizes that will be announced at the end of the race.

Prizes categories include: Overall: Male & Female Runners; Male & Female First, Second & Third; Juniors 1.5 mile, 7-11 – 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize Male & Female; Male and Female 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in the following age groups: 12-14, 15-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Walkers: Overall First, Second and Third (no distinction between male or female). Note: any walker caught running will be disqualified.

Registration is open online at RaceDayWorld.com/Race/BM/StDavid’s/Zurich5kRunWalk. All proceeds will go to Ovarian Cancer Awareness Bermuda. For those who don’t sign-up online, late registration will be at Clearwater Beach on Sunday at 7am.
