BUEI Talks presents: Solutions That Actually Work with Dr. Mick Hall on Thursday, January 16th.

Are you experiencing a condition referred to as an “incurable autoimmune disease? Do you have digestive issues, or other intestinal discomforts? How about kidney disorders or diabetes? Do you find that most of your questions are being answered with another suggested treatment rather than an explanation of what is really going on and what you can do to correct the problem?

Teresa Perozzi, former middleweight boxing champion, CrossFit athlete, and full time massage therapist is responsible for Dr. Hall coming to Bermuda. Teresa and her family have known Dr. Hall for about 30 years. Two years ago Teresa was suffering with what she was told was an incurable autoimmune condition. After an unsuccessful search for a solution, Teresa contacted Dr. Hall. Within a week of following his program, she was able to reverse her symptoms and shortly thereafter return to her former state of being fit and healthy. Teresa’s desire is to share the benefits of Dr. Hall’s research and experience with the people of Bermuda.

The event begins at 7:30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium. A Q&A with Dr. Hall and Teresa Perozzi will be held at the end. Harbourfront opens for dinner at 5pm and ticket holders are entitled to 10% off dinner (food only) before or after the lecture. Reservations required. Please call 295-4207 for reservations and be sure to mention the film. Cannot be combined with any other special offers.

2019 / Biography / PG-13 / 118mins. Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform a five-week sold-out run at The Talk of the Town. It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom in The Wizard of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown. As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of love seem undimmed as she embarks on a whirlwind romance with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. BUEI Screens & Warwick Academy Human Rights Project presents: Capernaum on Friday, January 24th.

2018 / Drama / R / 150mins. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Nadine Labaki’s Capernaum (“Chaos”) tells the story of Zain, a Lebanese boy who sues his parents for the “crime” of giving him life. Capernaum follows Zain, a gutsy streetwise child, as he flees his negligent parents, survives through his wits on the streets, takes care of Ethiopian refugee and her baby son, being jailed for a crime, and finally, seeks justice in a courtroom. Capernum is a film with an expansive palette: without warning it can ignite with emotional intensity, surprise with unexpected tenderness, and inspire with flashes of poetic imagery. Although it is set in the depths of a society’s systematic inhumanity, Capernaum is ultimately a hopeful film that stirs the heart as deeply as it cries out for action.

The film starts at 6:30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium. Harbourfront opens for dinner at 6pm and ticket holders are entitled to 10% off dinner (food only) after the film. Reservations required. Please call 295-4207 for reservations and be sure to mention the film. Cannot be combined with any other special offers.

Tickets are $15 each, $12 for students, and available at BUEI’s Oceans Gift Shop. Tickets are non-refundable within 24 hours of event.

Afterhours at The Media Lounge presents: Knives and Skin on Saturday, January 25th.

2019 / Drama / NR / 112 mins. Knives and Skin follows the investigation of a young girl’s disappearance in a stylised version of a rural Midwest town that hovers just above reality, led by an inexperienced local sheriff. Unusual coping techniques develop among the traumatised small-town residents with each new secret revealed. The ripple of fear and suspicion destroys some relationships and strengthens others. The backdrop of trauma colours quintessential rituals—classrooms, dances, courtship, football games—in which the teenagers experience an accelerated loss of innocence while their parents are forced to confront adulthood failures. This mystical teen noir presents coming of age as a lifelong process and examines the profound impact of grief.

The films starts at 9pm at The Media Lounge.

Tickets are $15 each and available by visiting www.MediaLoungeBda.com.
