Hard to believe, since she’s aging so well, but it turns out that the Swizzle Inn is the hippest octogenarian in town.  To celebrate 80 years of Swizzling Inn and Swaggering Out, they will be having special promotions, food and drink specials, drawings, special appearances and entertainment during the first 3 weeks of December. From now until December 9th, your child will receive a kid’s pizza or grilled cheese meal for free when purchasing a regular meal.  From December 10th until the 16th, diners will receive any second pizza for half price.  From December 17th until the 23rd, if you spend $80 or more, you get to select a special ornament off of their prize tree, with the prizes including discounts of up to 80%, gift vouchers and more.  Limited edition 80th Anniversary T-shirts are also available at both locations or in their online gift shop.

 

If tonight’s Christmas Walkabout tonight isn’t enough eastern festivity for you, the Corporation of St. George’s present Santa’s Coming to Town tomorrow night, Saturday, December 8th in King’s Square, St. George’s.  Santa arrives at 8pm but there will be entertainment from 6pm, including fun castles, majorettes, toy stalls, dancers, food vendors and more.

 

 

 

Friday, December 14th is the date of the Sandys 360 Annual Christmas Party Potluck. This will be in the lobby from 11am until 10pm and they ask that you bring canned or dry goods to donate to the less fortunate. If you have a child aged between 10 and 12 who loves animals, you may be interested in signing them up for the Bermuda SPCA Winter Critter Camp. Star Pack in association with BAA are providing a fun, safe place for 13 to 17 year olds to hang out while you finish your Christmas shopping.  Their Teen Holiday Dance will be at the BAA Gymnasium on Saturday, December 22nd from 9pm to 1am. Another option for NYE, this time at Margarita’s Grill, which will be transformed into The Red Carpet Experience on Monday, December 31st with entertainment provided by D’General and DJ Aztec. Offering a range of performances by a diverse selection of artists of international repute, the 2013 edition of the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts will run between Friday, January 18th and Saturday, March 2nd.  Featured artists include Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band, The Complete World of Sports, a dramatisation of Pride and Prejudice by L.A. Theatre Works, Black Angels Over Tuskegee performed by the Black Gents of Hollywood, the Cashore Marionettes, Duo Amal (piano duo), Sitkovetsky Piano Trio, MOMIX Botanica, Voces 8, Duisburg Philharmonic Wind Quartet and One Night of Queen.  In addition to the performances, there are also a series of free lunchtime events, including talks, recitals and musical interludes.  For a complete calendar of events, please visit their website at www.bermudafestival.org. It is a cruel irony that during party season, when everyone wants to look their best, we are also surrounded by fattening (and delicious) food and drinks.  Luckily, the Jiketsu Centre at the Old Berkeley Institute, have come to the rescue with their new Shin-Gi-Tai Auto-Flow Trunk Trimming Fitness/Wellness Programme, that will guarantee you a loss of 6-8 pounds.  Classes are on Monday and Thursday from 12 noon until 1pm, Thursday evening from 7pm until 8pm and cost $100 to $200 per month.  For more information, contact instructor Reuben Bean at 705-7541 or jiketsuadmin@northrock.bm.
