December 27th, 2012

Hi Kids

Since this is my last post of 2012, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year when it comes. I hope 2013 exceeds your wildest hopes. Here’s what’s coming up in Bermuda:

Cherry Wine

Tigress Entertainment is giving you a great opportunity to celebrate the last Friday of 2012 as they present Cherry Wine at Cosmopolitan Nightclub on Friday, December 28th.  For a mature crowd only, from 10pm until 3am, you can enjoy drinks specials all night with Y.G.S. Entertainment and Supatone playing the best of old and new in Top 40, Soca, Reggae and more.  Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 on the door and are available from Secrets, Kit-n-Caboodle and Kea on 704-0211.  If you spend $20 at the bar, you will be entered into a raffle to win 2 free trips to NYC.

Petals Workshops

Due to the popularity of their festive workshops, Petals want to help you make more floral creations in 2013.  Are wedding bells on the horizon for you?  The first event of 2013 will be an Informational Session on the Topic of Wedding Flowers on Saturday, January 26th **UPDATE: This date has been changed to Tuesday, February 19th**.  From 10am until 11.30am, lecturer Marguerite Clark, with Guest speaker Nikki Begg from Bermuda Bride will help you learn how to use flowers to accent your wedding.  This will include how to create a floral theme using a colour palate, work with the design of your venue and get advice on who should have flowers, tips and tricks for having fabulous flowers on a budget and much more.  You are invited to bring along any colour swatches, inspirational images and material that you’d like to work with for your wedding.  The cost is $25 per person.  Brighten Your Home With Flowers will be on Monday, January 28th.  From 6pm until 8pm, you will learn how to arrange flowers in your own vase, in addition to creating a floral arrangement from a dish in your kitchen cupboard. All flowers and foliage needed for both arrangements will be provided, but we ask you to bring your own containers.  You are asked to bring along your favourite vase (whether it be glass, ceramic or pottery – also available for purchase) and an an interesting favourite container from your kitchen (such as a pudding basin, bowl, cache pot or basket).  The cost is $100 per person.  Kids aged between 6 and 12 can also join in the fun at the Easter Workshop For Children on Saturday, March 16th.  From 10am until noon, each child will be creating a fun and festive Easter arrangement, with the help of their accompanied parent/guardian.  All materials are provided and the cost is $50 per child.   Easter Designs For Your Home will be on Monday, March 25th and from 6pm until 8pm, you will create an Easter-inspired table centerpiece using local foliage and other textured items such as vine and straw.  The cost is $85 per person.  All workshops will be held at the Petals studio (across from Masters) and you can register by calling 292-7303 or emailing sarah@petals.bm.

VGrill_Rediscover

Victoria Grill is shaking things up a little bit with some new offerings, just in time for 2013.  First of all, they are releasing their new seasonal menu, featuring Coastal Southern-style cuisine.  The new menu will include selections such as fried green tomatoes, hogfish po’ boy, shrimp ‘n’ grits and pulled pork sliders.  Another change at Victoria Grill will really please regular wine drinkers.  Going forward, every wine on their list is only $20 above retail.  This flat $20 markup also applies as their corkage rate so you are encouraged to bring that special bottle of wine from home.  For more information, or to make a reservation, contact 296-5050.
